Lundyn Parker book 2 #3

Flying southeast Lundyn was heading for the known latitude and longitude of the sunken yacht he was searching for. Flying again at around four thousand feet he was nearing his target area when he observed a most unusual site. Flying on a parallel course to him but two thousand feet lower and about 40 knots slower was a dirigible. He had only ever seen them in museums or in old photographs. This one seemed to be around eighty metres long and Lundyn could see what looked like a nest of antenna and that made him decide on his next move.
He banked the Seawind to port and dropped about fifteen hundred feet to come up behind the dirigible. The radio crackled to life. “Unidentified aircraft flying five hundred feet above and behind the dirigible Mother Belle please acknowledge, over”. Lundyn grinned and said to himself, “well we know she has radar or very good eyes.” To reply to the radio call he sent simply, “this is the Seawind sky-eye over”
“Mother Belle to Skye-eye please keep a safe distance off, I don’t need rubber kneckers getting too close.”
“Roger (Lundyn always still used the old form of radio acknowledgment rather than the modern Romeo) Mother Belle I just want to take some happy snaps if that is ok with you?”
“Fine Skye-eye just keep well clear, out.”
“Skye-eye to Mother Belle” over. “Go ahead Sky-Eye” she replied. “Mother Belle I am putting down for lunch in about half an hour and going for a dive, care to join me. Just chilled crab sandwiches and a half bottle of Riesling I’m afraid over?” After a very long pause he heard, “Skye-Eye that would be nice I can match you with half a bottle of Bollinger, over” Lundyn slapped his thigh with delight but keeping his voice calm said, “Roger Mother Belle I will be putting down in about half an hour, Bolly will be just fine, out”
