Lundy Parker 11 - 3
December 13th 2006 18:14
The vessels were both facing in the same direction Lundyn knew that the fast cruiser would take off hard and fast as soon as the transfer was complete. The big freighter would take more time to get under way. He made his escape back under the hull of the freighter and surfaced close to the Seawind. Roscoe and the General leaned over to help pull him on board. No need for secrecy now. As far as every on board knew the transfer of the passenger was a success and the freighter could get under weigh. Lundyn noted even now how it was starting to churn the water with its two huge propellers. Soon it would be over the horizon. In the opposite direction the cruiser was off in a cloud of spray with white water bursting around its bow, as it made its way through the seas. Lundyn shrugged out of his dive gear and was quickly air born as well. As he had not gone any deeper than a few metres with his scuba gear he was safe to fly to a cruising height of 20,000 feet. The General had already alerted his friends where the target would be in position. He gave search area coordinates and it was confirmed that as they were still in international waters and that the Singaporeans would detain Ho until the Thai authorities could pick him up.

From his vantage point in the sky Lundyn and his friends could see the cruiser churning through the water. It was struggling even now, half an hour from its last pick up. The wake was less pronounced and the surge through the sea seemed to be a lot less pronounced. In the distance he could also see the freighter making good time as well. So far the plan was coming along nicely. Then suddenly they saw the cruiser come to a complete stop. It was lolling in the waves and lurching to the swell. A figure was opening the engine hatches on the rear deck. As they opened a cloud of smoke poured out. Not only had the rope blocked the propeller shafts and bought the cruiser to a halt it had helped somehow to overcook the engines. It was certainly not going anywhere now. The General rang the latitude and longitude to his friends from Lundyn’s satellite phone and they were all about to pat each other on the back when they saw the freighter starting to do a slow turn. Lundyn banked the little plane hard and raced toward the freighter. “Arm the Yugo with a grenade Roscoe, and keep them pumping out till she turns back.
The Seawind was back on the water again with the cockpit hatch open. The acrid, throat- catching claw of cordite filled the cabin as Roscoe pumped out four grenades toward the freighter. He was not aiming for a hit, but exploding the grenades in its path. Soon they got the message and the freighter started a slow turn in the opposite direction. When only the stern could be seen and the turn was complete, Lundyn again took off and at 20,000 feet could make out another ship making for the stricken cruiser. This time with binoculars he could make out the markings of the Singapore navy. The noose had closed on Ho Sin Lee. There was no way out now.
