Chapter 21
Lundyn could not start his Seawind. Although it was not discernible at first the fuel line was seriously compromised. No amount of gaffer tape would repair it well enough to go through a chase of the Southwind and an armed terrorist. He put off a Pan Pan radio message.
“Hello Eye In The Sky, this is Mother Belle over”
“Annie?” inquired Lundyn, completely forgetting his radio protocol, “is that you”
“You bet it is lover and am I looking forward to some more of you!”
Lundyn grinned to himself as memory of his last encounter with Annie drifted through his mind.
“Mother Belle can you assist me? I need some fuel line repairs made?”
“Sure eye In The Sky. When dad built this lab for me he put in a decent sort of workshop. We could manage just about anything. What is your position, over?”
The dirigible was hanging over the Seawind on auto pilot. Computer operated it controlled itself to hover precisely where it was required to. This gave Annie the opportunity to dive on her own and explore the ocean floor on the research she was involved in. It was a one person job as she was searching for remains of an ancient civilisation that her father had found mention of in his research into ancient myths and cultures. This was so ancient that it predated mankind on the earth so needless to say Annie didn’t want anyone working with her. She had no time for sceptics. She did however have time for Lundyn. Lundyn was working in a pair of shorts on the float of his plane. He was doing the last touch up required for the fuel line repair. Annie couldn’t help but notice the line of bullet holes in the rear part of the fuselage. Her woman’s genes finally got the better of her. She wheedled and dug until she had the bare bones of Lundyn’s story.
“So do you think this creep has got clean away?”
“Ramid has had an hour start on me. He is doing around thirty knots and I may catch him but I still have to pick up the others and then find out which way he went.”
“What if I show you another way? But we will need to use Mother Belle so I need to drive.”
