Lundyn Parker book 2, 2-3

Joe drove his old land cruiser “troopie” towing a trailer filled with water. In the back of the 4 wd he had a couple of back packs for fire fighting, water filled and pump actioned to keep up a good nozzle pressure. The first fire he got to was obviously the last to be lit. It was contained over a small area of about a thousand square metres. Without the tinder dry undergrowth the fire had little to burn on and he managed to put it out around the edges with the hose from his trailer. Without fuel to feed on, it would burn in on itself and soon burn out.
Lundyn taxied the Seawind along the bay and brought her in beside the fuel jetty at the marina. It was a difficult task to bring her in close enough to get a line ashore without tearing off the wings on fuel pumps or jetty posts and still have enough way up to be able to manoeuvre without slicing up things with the prop. Normally he liked to fuel off a mooring but today was to be different. The marina manager was standing by to take the berthing lines flung our by Lundyn and he was soon tied up snugly and refuelling.
Lundyn finished his business and picking up a newspaper he had bought looked idly at the headlines. WORST SPOT FIRES THROUGH OUT THE COUNTRY THIS CENTURY! Speed reading the meat of the story he discovered that spot fires had been lit in every sate and territory of the country. Small isolated blazes that had done little damage yet but only because the country was not yet tinder dry like it would be mid summer. As usual, campers trail bikers and vandals were thought to be to blame.
