Lundyn Parker and his best mate Roscoe Tanner are a couple of Aussie knock about types. During their incredible adventures they will, fight, root, eat and save society and the even the world from horrors unimiaginable. Loveable rogues but as tough as the land that bred them.

Lundyn Parker 2 #8/3

February 12th 2007 02:42
.Lundyn, Roscoe and the General sat in a window seated table overlooking the wide expanses of Lake Macquarie. The sun glittered from a bright blue sky on to the lake, causing the wind ripples to flash like diamonds. Across the bay a fleet of yachts was forming a straight line as they approached a start line. Seconds after the puff of smoke from a starting gun the noise of the shot rolled over the lake to reach them. The yachts burst as one over the line and bobbing slowly it seemed at this distance, danced their way into the breeze, even now separating as each skipper fought for his slightest advantage. In the distance plumes of bushfire smoke plumed into the air.

A scattering of dishes began to litter the dining table. Bowls of fragrant jasmine rice, deep dishes of hot jungle style curries containing chicken, pork and beef. A large bowl of Laksa noodles in a coconut and curry sauce was swimming with slabs of white fish fillet, whole peeled king prawns, green lipped mussels and spiky cut squid tube pieces and crab claws. The fresh cut Thai vegetable leaves and herbs through out a heady Oriental fog around the men the younger of whom ate with relish. In his usual style the general picked gently at his food savouring each mouth full, chewing carefully to allow his digestion to be natural. As a yoga master and ………….. his body was a true temple and everything that came in to it or out of it was done with almost religious fervour.

Waiting until his two younger companions had demolished the banquet enough to be regarded as shattered he said, “well guys, its believed by my mates in the Asian security forces that Osama Bin Laden’s crew is now wreaking all this havoc in Australia… The bushfires, almost everyone of them is lit by remote control and in some sort of sequence.”

Lundyn thought back to the fires he had seen ignite and blaze in rugged bush in Queensland recently as he was returning from Thailand.
“What else is happening?” Asked Lundyn.
“A shipment of hazardous chemicals has unexplainably gone missing. Not much commercial value but high on the dangerous goods list. The mass torture of the whales and dolphins and to a lesser extent seals. And there is a large oil tanker, keeping radio silence, bearing up to head in to the Great Barrier Reef. Ramid, one of Asia’s top terror suspects has gone missing in Indonesia. It is thought that he and a cadre of his top men are in hiding somewhere.”
“Is everything related, do you think” asked Roscoe chewing on a mouth full of rice.
The general replied, “the balloon has gone up. ASIO has been informed, the SAS and special forces are standing by and the oil spill response units are calling in their personnel from leave. The army is about to join the firefighters as it is thought all states are going to ignite and that will be far more than the civilian fire fighters can manage. It is all to direct to be coincidence."
“Yeah, but,” drawled Lundyn, poking a fork into a large piece of squid and dipping it into a fiery chilli sauce, “how do we get involved and why?”
“Well, in fact it can be said that it is absolutely none of our business… That would be correct except that as Australians we are involved. It is our country that is being held to ransom. Though we have not yet been informed by our prime minister. We are on the defensive… The best form of defence is attack. The government can’t attack and their forces have to work around ‘terms of engagement’ not being able to fire at the enemy unless they are fired at first. The threat is not enough. They have to be actually have bullets fired, rockets launched, bombs burst and people killed before they can retaliate. We can at least be ready to help.”
The two boxing protagonists and lifelong friends looked at each other and with a grin, both nodded in unison.
“OK general, do you have a plan?” Lundyn pushed his empty plate away and wiped his mouth with a napkin. “Do we know where, when and how?”
